The Unofficial World of Warcraft Hunter Guide,
Reviewed
Capsule review - If you're new to the Hunter class this
guide will fill in all the gaps. If you're familiar with the
class you'll pick up some very useful info. If you're an
expert then you might well find some areas to argue with the
author.
So what's in the Unofficial Hunter Guide?
First off is an intro to Hunters and an overview off the
various server types (PvP, etc.) and then the different
races, covering their strong and weak points as far as
Hunters are concerned.
Next is a section on game mechanics and how those
apply to Hunters.
Natually there's a section on pets with some pretty useful
advice as to which pets best suit your playstyle.
Like PvP? There is a whole section here on how to rule at
Pvp and deal with any other class.
Talent builds - Not only does the guide gice you the info on
each talent, it also tells you how useful each talent is in
raiding, PvP, leveling, for teams, and solo.
There's also a leveling guide and a gold making guide. While
the leveling guide doesn't stack up to Joana's Gudie or Brian's
Guide, much less Zygor's, it's not a bad place to get
started.
Lastly there's a useful gold making guide. Again, it doesn't
stack up to the big gold guides, but it's definitely
useful.
If this guide had a leveling guide and a gold guide like the
others then it would be 600 pages long and cost $85. For that
price you can get their 18 guide package...
A Little More In Depth...
While more experienced players will scoff, I think the
discussion on servers is of value to the new
World of Warcraft player.
My view on the various races is to play whichever one you
like, but each race does bring a couple of special abilities to
the table. Some of these are of more use than others as far as
being a Hunter is concerned, so if you want to be really
efficient then you should pay attention to these.
Game mechanics: newer players willpick up a
lot from this section and so will more experienced players.
Those who already make a study of game mechanics can probably
skip this section.
Next is a section that discusses how the game mechanics
works, such as stats, attributes (eg: armor and
resistances,) modifiers, and just how much of a modifer
you need to get a real effect on your game.
He also tells you how much you don't need. There's a
limit to how much value you get from "add attack," for
example.
Fighting as a hunter. He covers the basics here and
hits the strategies later. Also covered as the spells
used by a Hnter:
Some advanced stuff - if you're a new hunter you'll find
aspects

Shot rotations - you can't just auto-shoot and be
effective.
