The guides on this page are here because we've actually read and used them. There are a lot of WoW guides out there, many of which are very good, but we haven't seen them all. If we haven't read (and used) it then you generally won't see the link here.

So why not just browse the forums to get the info? Much, but not all, of what's in the guides below is in the forums. All you have to be willing to do is spend the hours digging it up and wading through the usual forum nonsense. If you just need one tip that might be a pretty good way to go.

We're willing to spend a few bucks for tried and true tips in order to save hours browsing the forums of other sites, looking for just the right tip. We'll save the forums for fun time.

This page has the capsule reviews, click through to read the full reviews, warts and all (and we do include the warts.)

WoW Leveling Guides

Our current favorite leveling guide is now Zygor's Guide, available for both horde and alliance. The huge feature that this guide has is that it's entirely in-game and automated. It's very much like having someone looking over your shoulder, giving you tips. It might not be the perfect path to 70, but it'll get you there faster than the others simply because you never have to look anything up.

Our second favorite is the Team iDemise Guide, though it certainly has some benefits of it's own. One of which is that the levelig path these guys pick might be a bit better than Zygor's, at least according to one of our boys. It's not as well done as Zygor's though, and will require looking stuff up from time to time.

There's a reason that Joana's Horde and Brian's Alliance guides are as popular as they are. They get the job done, and they do it very well. The big hit, if you can call it that is that they're PDF guides (ebooks) so that youi do have to switch back and forth from guide to game with them. All quests are linked to Thottbot and other WoW databases, but that slows down your leveling speed. Sometimes though, it's nice to be able to print something out, put it on a clipboard, and refer back and forth.

  • Joana's Horde 1-70 Horde Leveling Guide review - For the Horde only. I took a Rogue from 1 to 70 with this guide. I didn't break any speed records, but I was a newb at the time. Read the review for more.

Get the Gold

I've always thought that getting gold in WoW, or any other MMO, was fairly easy. Get a few good tips and the cash starts flowing. Some people find it a little more difficult and there are a few traps to fall into. For example - you start a brand new character on a new server and try to level Blacksmithing... You'll stay dirt poor.

So why not just buy some gold? In any capital city you'll see gold sellers bouncing around spamming the chat channel with their deals. There's just one issue...

  • Blizzard bans gold buyers (and sellers) when it catches them. It's a violation of the Blizzard Terms of Service that we all agreee to when we enter the game so Bliz can feel free to ban gold buyers and sellers at its whim.
  • Besides, with a little work you can make a lot of gold, making buyingthat gold unnecessry.

Our favorite gold guide, by far, is the Massive WoW Gold Blueprint. In a nutshell - everything, the entire guide, is done with videos. In addition you don't need to have high level characters to rake in a ton of gold. I have over 4k gold on my alliance character, and no one over level 31 (as of this writing) on that server. Highly recommended.

Next favorite is Warcraft Millionaire. This guy has hit the gold cap (over 200,000 gold) on four separate characters. How's that for a resume? His guide is actually several guides, all PDFs, and covers characters of all levels (with an emphasis on higher levels.) and it also has an Auction House guide, Daily Quests guide, and more.

  • Warcraft Millionaire Review

Valkor's Gold Guide is the one we used before we got the Massive Blueprint. Very similar to Warcraft Millionaire, but with different tips and a little out of date in spots. Still, a solid guide at a good price. Valkor's Review

Gold Secrets - While we have not used this guide, it's been a top seller for a long time and that tells me that it's a pretty good guide. Check out the video on the home page. No review since we don't have a copy, so here's the direct link.

Warcraft Wealth - This short guide has very litte for low level characters and some good tips for the higher levels. It also has a very nice video on using the Auction house. The problem is that all of the above guides have far more content and the Blueprint has better videos. So while this isn't a bad guide, it's too high in price for what you get.  Here's a link if you want to check it out anyway. Here's the Warcraft Wealth Review

Class Guides

There are a couple of things that make writing a class guide a little more interesting than other guides. One of these is the "What do you want to do" question. Level? Raids? PvP?

The talent tree complicates things a bit, as well as making it less likely that one character will be a close of another. There are several perfectly viable talent builds for each class, no matter what you want to do with the character.

The value in a guide is in sorting out the confusion and providing a solid path to follow. Once you have a solid understanding of how your chosen class works then experimenting becomes a lot more interesting.

While there are a number of articles out there covering various aspects of any given class, there are several full blown guides that cover all aspects of the classes. The ones we've been using are from Killer Guides.
